Frequently Asked Questions

Which catalog numbers does this manual cover?
This manual covers eight Compact 5000 analog I/O modules: 5069-IF4IH (4-channel current/voltage/HART input), 5069-IF8 (8-channel current/voltage input), 5069-IY4 and 5069-IY4K (4-channel current/voltage/RTD/Thermocouple input), 5069-OF4 and 5069-OF4K (4-channel current/voltage output), 5069-OF4IH (4-channel current/voltage/HART output), and 5069-OF8 (8-channel current/voltage output). Catalog numbers ending in K are conformally coated versions.
What is the minimum Studio 5000 Logix Designer version required for HART I/O modules?
HART I/O modules are supported in Studio 5000 Logix Designer version 33.00.00 or later.
Can Compact 5000 analog I/O modules be used as both local and remote I/O?
Yes. When the modules reside in the same system as the controller, they operate as local I/O modules and exchange data over the system backplane. When they reside in a separate location, they operate as remote I/O modules and are accessed over an EtherNet/IP network via a Compact 5000 I/O EtherNet/IP adapter.
What RPI range is supported for Compact 5000 analog I/O modules?
All Compact 5000 analog I/O modules support an RPI range of 0.2…750 ms. HART devices support an RPI range of 500…9999.9 ms.
What is the absolute accuracy of the modules at 25 °C?
Standard I/O modules have an absolute accuracy of 0.10% at 25 °C (77 °F). HART I/O modules have an absolute accuracy of 0.05% at 25 °C (77 °F). This specification matches the temperature at which the module was calibrated in the factory.
Do the HART I/O modules require external HART multiplexers?
No. The HART I/O modules have built-in HART modems and do not require external HART multiplexers or clip-on HART modems. The modules have separate HART modems for each channel.
What connection types are available for Compact 5000 analog I/O modules?
Three connection types are available. Data with Calibration returns general fault data, input or output data, and calibration data for standard I/O modules. Data returns general fault, input or output, and calibration data for HART I/O modules, or general fault and input or output data for standard I/O modules. Listen Only is available only for standard remote I/O modules and allows a controller to receive input data without owning the module; it requires the Multicast option on both the owner and listen-only controller projects.
