The maximum number of local Compact 5000 I/O modules depends on the catalog number. Controllers 5069-L306ER/ERM and 5069-L310ER/ERM support up to 8 local modules. The 5069-L320ER/ERM/ERMK/ERP supports up to 16. Controllers from the L330 series and above support up to 31 local I/O modules when used with Studio 5000 Logix Designer version 30.00.00 or later.
What is the difference between CompactLogix 5380 and Compact GuardLogix 5380 SIL 2 and SIL 3 controllers?
All three run on the EtherNet/IP-based Logix 5000 platform. Compact GuardLogix 5380 SIL 2 controllers add a dedicated safety task and safety memory, and can achieve up to SIL 2 / PLd (Category 3). Compact GuardLogix 5380 SIL 3 controllers use a 1oo2 hardware design and can achieve up to SIL 3 / PLe (Category 4). Once a safety signature is applied, safety memory is protected and safety logic cannot be modified.
What EtherNet/IP network topologies are supported by these controllers?
CompactLogix 5380, Compact GuardLogix 5380, and CompactLogix 5480 controllers all support DLR (Device Level Ring), Star, and Linear topologies. The controllers support both Dual-IP mode (each Ethernet port uses a unique IP address) and Linear/DLR mode (one IP address for the controller).
