Frequently Asked Questions

Which HMI device models does this manual cover?
The manual covers twelve SIMATIC HMI Comfort Panel models: KP400 Comfort (6AV2124-1DC01-0AX0), KTP400 Comfort (6AV2124-2DC01-0AX0), KP700 Comfort (6AV2124-1GC01-0AX0), TP700 Comfort (6AV2124-0GC01-0AX0), KP900 Comfort (6AV2124-1JC01-0AX0), TP900 Comfort (6AV2124-0JC01-0AX0), KP1200 Comfort (6AV2124-1MC01-0AX0), TP1200 Comfort (6AV2124-0MC01-0AX0), KP1500 Comfort, TP1500 Comfort, TP1900 Comfort, and TP2200 Comfort. Display sizes range from 4 inches to 22 inches.
What software is required to configure the Comfort Panels?
All Comfort Panel models are configured using WinCC software integrated into the Totally Integrated Automation (TIA) Portal. Devices are configurable as of WinCC V11; the manual description relates to V14 or higher.
What PROFINET interfaces are available and what are their speeds?
The 4-inch models have one PROFINET interface (X1) at 10/100 Mb. The 7\", 9\", and 12\" models also have one PROFINET interface (X1) at 10/100 Mb. Devices with 15\" displays or larger have two PROFINET interfaces: X1 at 10/100 Mb and an additional gigabit X3 interface at 10/100/1000 Mb.
What are the memory card requirements for the system memory card slot?
Only a SIMATIC HMI Memory Card with a capacity of 2 GB or greater may be used as the system memory card. All other memory cards are not recognized as a system memory card by the HMI device. The standard memory card slot accepts commercially available SD (IO/HC) or MMC format cards, though Siemens recommends the SIMATIC HMI Memory Card for data consistency.
What are the permitted mounting positions and temperature limits for the Comfort Panels?
All HMI devices support landscape mounting. Touch models also support portrait mounting. The device is self-ventilated and approved for inclined mounting at angles up to +/-35° from the vertical. For 7\" to 15\" devices, vertical landscape mounting at up to +55 °C and inclination up to 40° from vertical at up to 40 °C are permitted when USB load does not exceed 100 mA per port and the 24 V DC PROFIBUS interface connection is not used.
What uninterruptible power supply (UPS) devices are supported?
The HMI devices support SITOP DC UPS modules as of a rated power value of 6 A, connected to the USB port of the HMI device. On a power failure the HMI device is shut down in a controlled manner after a buffer time. The UPS add-on must be transferred as an option; no license key is required.
What software add-ons are available for the Comfort Panels?
Available add-ons include WinCC /Sm@rtServer (remote HMI access and Web Server), WinCC /Audit (audit trail and electronic signature), WinCC /ProDiag (plant and machine monitoring), UPS with USB support, PDF Viewer, Word Viewer, Excel Viewer, Media Player, Internet Explorer, and a printer driver for PostScript, HTML, and PDF output. Pre-installed add-ons (PDF Viewer, Word Viewer, Excel Viewer, Media Player, Internet Explorer) require no license key.
