Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between Bulletin 800T and 800H 30 mm push buttons?
800T is the metal-construction variant (die-cast or zinc), rated NEMA/UL Type 1/4/12/13. 800H is the plastic / reinforced-polyester variant, rated NEMA/UL Type 1/4/4X/12/13 — the 4X upgrade adds corrosion resistance for wash-down and chemical environments. Both share the same 30 mm panel cutout and use the same back-of-panel contact blocks.
How does 30 mm Bulletin 800T compare to 22 mm Bulletin 800F (800-TD008)?
Both are round panel-mount push-button families, but they target different spaces. Bulletin 800F is 22 mm — the global / IEC-style cutout common on European machinery and modern OEM panels. Bulletin 800T is 30 mm — the traditional North American industrial cutout still widely specified on process-control panels, heavy machinery, and field-control stations. 800T/800H typically offer larger operator heads, higher mechanical durability on push-pull devices, and a broader catalog of E-stops, cluster pilot lights, and specialty operators (break-glass, wobble stick, padlocking). Bulletin 800F (see Publication 800-TD008) is preferred when panel space is constrained or when a global specification is required.
Are Bulletin 800T trigger-action E-stops EN ISO 13850 compliant?
Yes, trigger-action E-stops are compliant with EN ISO 13850 when paired with the proper N.C., N.C.L.B., or self-monitoring contact block. Note that the 'E-stop' legend-molded head variants (TFXJE, TFXLE, TFRXJE) do not comply with EN ISO 13850 because the legend is molded into the head rather than a separate yellow collar — see footnote 1 in the catalog number tables of Publication 800-TD009.
How many operating cycles can I expect from a 30 mm push button?
Momentary non-illuminated push buttons are rated 10,000,000 mechanical operations minimum. Illuminated momentary PBs and push-pull / twist- release devices are rated 250,000 cycles. Non-illuminated selector switches reach 1,000,000 cycles; illuminated or key-operated selectors drop to 200,000. Potentiometer operators are rated 25,000 cycles. Electrical design life at maximum rated load is 1,000,000 cycles on standard contact blocks, 200,000 cycles on Logic Reed (at rated load).
What contact-rating designation do I use when spec-ing a 30 mm push button?
Standard (800T-XA) contact blocks are A600 on AC (600V, 7200 VA make, 720 VA break) and Q600 on DC. For low-energy electronic I/O, order PenTUFF low-voltage blocks (800T-XAV) rated C300 / R150. For safety- rated circuits requiring self-monitoring, use SMCB blocks (800TC-XD4S). MaxDuty blocks (Ith = 24 A) are used on large-motor disconnect and heavy pilot-duty applications. Full contact-rating tables are on p. 4-5 of Publication 800-TD009.
What's the minimum enclosure size required for Bulletin 800T/800H devices?
110 mm × 80 mm × 70 mm is the minimum enclosure (depth-critical because of the back-of-panel contact blocks and wiring bend radius). Smaller custom enclosures may cause the operator to interfere with the enclosure wall or prevent closing the cover; see the Approximate Dimensions section (Publication 800-TD009 p. 61+) for exact per-device depths.
