Compact 5000 Analog Output Modules 5069-OF4, OF4K, OF8 Install

This document provides installation instructions for the Compact 5000 analog current/voltage output modules, catalog numbers 5069-OF4, 5069-OF4K, and 5069-OF8. It covers DIN rail and RTB installation, wiring diagrams for current and voltage modes, and module removal procedures. The modules convert digital values to analog signals using non-isolated output channels that support current and voltage ranges. They operate as local or remote I/O with CompactLogix 5380, Compact GuardLogix 5380, and CompactLogix 5480 controllers.

Communication Protocols

Supported industrial networks and field buses for the products covered by this publication.

EtherNet/IP Modules use the Producer/Consumer communication model. Each module produces data without first being polled. Used with Compact 5000 I/O EtherNet/IP adapters and compatible Logix 5000 controllers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which controllers can use the 5069-OF4, 5069-OF4K, and 5069-OF8 modules?
The modules can be used as local I/O modules in CompactLogix 5380, Compact GuardLogix 5380, and CompactLogix 5480 controller systems. They can also be used as remote I/O modules with those same controllers and some other Logix 5000 controllers.
What RTB types are compatible with these modules?
The modules are compatible with the 5069-RTB18-SPRING RTB and the 5069-RTB18-SCREW RTB. RTBs must be ordered separately because they do not ship with Compact 5000 I/O modules.
Do these modules support removal and insertion under power (RIUP)?
No. Neither the module nor the RTB supports RIUP. Power must be removed before connecting or disconnecting the module or the RTB to prevent electric arc hazards, particularly in hazardous location installations.
What wire sizes are supported for the RTB connections?
Both screw and spring RTB connections accept 0.5…1.5 mm2 (22…16 AWG) solid or stranded shielded copper wire rated at 105 °C (221 °F) or greater, with single wire connection only. Maximum diameter including insulation is 3.5 mm for screw terminals and 2.9 mm for spring terminals.
What is the analog output range for these modules?
Each channel supports +/–10V DC or 0…20 mA output. The channels are non-isolated and support multiple ranges for each output type.
What are the hazardous location ratings for Zone 2 installations?
The modules are rated II 3 G with protection type Ex ec IIC T4 Gc under UKEX Regulation 2016 No. 1107, EU Directive 2014/34/EU (ATEX), and IECEx certification IECExUL15.0055X. They must be mounted in a Zone 2 certified enclosure with a minimum IP54 ingress protection rating.
What DIN rail type is required for Compact 5000 I/O modules?
Use an EN50022 - 35 x 7.5 mm (1.38 x 0.30 in.) DIN rail. The product is grounded through the DIN rail to chassis ground, so zinc-plated chromate-passivated steel DIN rail must be used. The DIN rail should be secured to the mounting surface approximately every 200 mm (7.8 in.).
