Frequently Asked Questions

What input types do the 5069-IY4 and 5069-IY4K modules support?
The modules support differential and single-ended non-isolated current and voltage inputs, as well as thermocouple and RTD inputs. They can operate in multiple input ranges based on the input type connected.
Which controllers can use these modules?
The modules can be used as local I/O in CompactLogix 5380, Compact GuardLogix 5380, and CompactLogix 5480 controller systems. They can also be used as remote I/O with those same controllers and some other Logix 5000 controllers.
What RTBs are required, and do they ship with the module?
The module requires a 5069-RTB18-SPRING or 5069-RTB18-SCREW RTB for current, voltage, and RTD connections. When using thermocouple mode, a 5069-RTB14CJC-SPRING or 5069-RTB14CJC-SCREW RTB must be used. RTBs do not ship with Compact 5000 I/O modules and must be ordered separately.
Does the module support removal and insertion under power (RIUP)?
No. The module does not support RIUP. The RTB also does not support RIUP. Power must be removed before connecting or disconnecting the module or the RTB to prevent electric arc, which could cause an explosion in hazardous location installations.
What type of SA power do the 5069-IY4 and 5069-IY4K modules require?
The modules use DC SA power. DC power must be connected to the controller, adapter, or field potential distributor that provides SA power to the modules. If a system includes modules that use AC SA power and DC SA power, they must be installed on separate SA power buses.
What are the hazardous location approvals for this module?
The module is approved for North American Class I, Division 2, Groups A, B, C, D hazardous locations. It also carries UKEX and ATEX approval for Zone 2 (Ex ec IIC T4 Gc) per UKEX Regulation 2016 No. 1107 and ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU, and IECEx certification (IECExUL15.0055X) for Zone 2 per IEC 60079-0 and IEC 60079-7. The temperature code is T4 for all approvals.
What DIN rail is specified for mounting Compact 5000 I/O modules?
Use an EN50022 35 x 7.5 mm (1.38 x 0.30 in.) DIN rail. Zinc-plated chromate-passivated steel DIN rail is required to assure proper grounding. The DIN rail must be secured to the mounting surface approximately every 200 mm (7.8 in.) and must be properly grounded.
