Frequently Asked Questions

What RTB types are compatible with the 5069-IF8 module?
The 5069-IF8 uses an 18-terminal RTB. Two types are available: the 5069-RTB18-SPRING (spring-clamp) and the 5069-RTB18-SCREW (screw-clamp). RTBs must be ordered separately as they do not ship with Compact 5000 I/O modules.
Does the 5069-IF8 support removal and insertion under power (RIUP)?
No. The module does not support RIUP. Power must be removed before inserting or removing the module, and before connecting or disconnecting the RTB.
What input device types does the 5069-IF8 support?
The module supports 2-wire analog current devices, 3-wire analog voltage devices, and 4-wire analog devices that combine current and voltage. Each channel is individually configurable for current or voltage input type in the Logix Designer application.
What controllers can use the 5069-IF8 as local I/O?
The 5069-IF8 can be used as local I/O in CompactLogix 5380, Compact GuardLogix 5380, and CompactLogix 5480 controller systems. It can also be used as remote I/O with those controllers and some other Logix 5000 controllers.
What power does the 5069-IF8 require?
The module requires MOD power at 75 mA @ 18…32V DC for system-side operation and SA power at 100 mA @ 18…32V DC for field-side operation. The module uses DC SA power only. Rockwell Automation recommends using separate external power supplies for MOD and SA power, and separate supplies for analog and digital modules to reduce susceptibility to noise.
What are the hazardous location ratings for the 5069-IF8?
The module is rated Class I, Division 2, Groups A, B, C, D for North America. For UKEX and ATEX, it carries Equipment Group II, Category 3 approval with protection type Ex ec IIC T4 Gc for Zone 2 environments. It also holds IECEx certification with the same protection type Ex ec IIC T4 Gc to IEC 60079-0 and IEC 60079-7. All hazardous location installations require an enclosure with a minimum IP54 ingress protection rating.
How should the DIN rail be installed for proper grounding of the 5069-IF8?
Use zinc-plated chromate-passivated steel DIN rail of type EN50022, 35 x 7.5 mm. The module grounds through the DIN rail to chassis ground. Secure the DIN rail to the mounting surface approximately every 200 mm (7.8 in.) and use end-anchors appropriately. Aluminum or plastic DIN rail materials are not recommended because they can corrode or provide poor conductivity.
