5069-OX4I Relay Output Module Installation Instructions

This document is installation instructions for the Compact 5000 5069-OX4I digital 4-point isolated normally-open/normally-closed relay output module. It covers DIN rail mounting, RTB installation and wiring, end cap installation, system power considerations, and module removal. The module is used as local or remote I/O with CompactLogix 5380, Compact GuardLogix 5380, and CompactLogix 5480 controller systems.

Which controllers can the 5069-OX4I be used with?
The 5069-OX4I can be used as a local I/O module in CompactLogix 5380, Compact GuardLogix 5380, and CompactLogix 5480 controller systems. It can also be used as a remote I/O module with those same controllers and some other Logix 5000 controllers.
Which removable terminal blocks (RTBs) are compatible with the 5069-OX4I?
The module is compatible with the 5069-RTB18-SPRING and 5069-RTB18-SCREW RTBs. RTBs do not ship with Compact 5000 I/O modules and must be ordered separately.
Does the 5069-OX4I support removal and insertion under power (RIUP)?
No. The module does not support RIUP capability. Power must be removed before inserting or removing the module or connecting and disconnecting the RTB.
Does the 5069-OX4I draw current from the SA power bus?
No. The 5069-OX4I module does not use SA power and does not draw current from the SA power bus. It passes SA power through to the next Compact 5000 I/O module in the system.
What is the maximum relay current rating for the 5069-OX4I?
The module is rated at 2 A per channel and 8 A per module. Specific per-channel ratings include 2 A resistive at 5…30V DC, 2 A resistive at 5…264V AC (50/60 Hz), 2 A general use at 5…250V AC (50/60 Hz), and 2 A at 5…125V AC for UKEX/ATEX/IECEx applications.
What DIN rail type is required for mounting the 5069-OX4I?
Use EN50022 35 x 7.5 mm (1.38 x 0.30 in.) DIN rail. Zinc-plated chromate-passivated steel DIN rail is required to assure proper grounding. The DIN rail should be secured to the mounting surface approximately every 200 mm (7.8 in.).
What are the hazardous location approvals for the 5069-OX4I?
The module holds North American Class I, Division 2, Groups A, B, C, D approval. It also carries UKEX (certificate UL22UKEX2379X) and ATEX (certificate DEMKO15ATEX 1484X) approvals for Zone 2 environments, as well as IECEx certification (certificate IECExUL15.0055X) for Zone 2, all with a temperature code of T4. Hazardous location ratings apply at or below 125V AC or 30V DC.
