Frequently Asked Questions

Which networks do the 1734 POINT I/O modules support?
The 1734 POINT I/O modules are DeviceNet ready and can operate as individual DeviceNet nodes or as a single node with a 1734-ADN or 1734-ADNX adapter. They also support ControlNet (via 1734-ACNR adapter), EtherNet/IP (via 1734-AENT or 1734-AENTR adapter), and PROFIBUS (via 1734-APB adapter).
What software is used to configure POINT I/O modules on ControlNet and EtherNet/IP networks?
Configuration on ControlNet and EtherNet/IP networks is performed using the Studio 5000 Logix Designer application (the rebranding of RSLogix 5000 software version 11 or later). RSNetWorx for DeviceNet is used for DeviceNet network configuration.
What are the analog module channel resolutions?
The 1734-IE2C and IE2CK current input modules provide 16-bit resolution across 0…21 mA. The 1734-IE2V voltage input module provides 15 bits plus sign across −10…+10V. The 1734-OE2C and OE2CK current output modules provide 13-bit resolution across 0…21 mA. The 1734-OE2V and OE2VK voltage output modules provide 14-bit resolution across −10…+10V.
What fault and program mode actions are available for analog output modules?
Analog output modules can be configured to respond to fault or program mode with one of four actions: Hold Last State, Go to Low Clamp, Go to High Clamp, or Use Program Value (user-defined value). The default for both fault mode and program mode is Go to Low Clamp.
What is Sequential Auto Addressing (SAA) and how does it work?
Sequential Auto Addressing reassigns the node address of every module to the right of a selected module on the POINTBus network. Each module receives an address one greater than its left neighbor. For example, if the first module is set to address 10 and five modules are in line, they are assigned addresses 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14 after the SAA command is issued.
What input filter times are available for digital input modules?
Digital input modules support selectable input filter times from 0 to 65 ms with a default of 1 ms. For DC input modules, separate filter times can be set for Off-to-On and On-to-Off transitions on a per-channel basis.
What notch filter options are available for analog input modules?
The analog input modules support four notch filter settings: 50 Hz, 60 Hz, 250 Hz, and 500 Hz. The default is 60 Hz. The minimum Real Time Sample value depends on the notch filter selected: 120 ms at 50 Hz, 100 ms at 60 Hz, 24 ms at 250 Hz, and 12 ms at 500 Hz.
