Frequently Asked Questions

What 5069 CompactLogix I/O module types are supported by Bulletin 1492 wiring systems?
The wiring systems support AC digital (5069-IA16, 5069-OA16), DC digital (5069-IB16, 5069-IB16K, 5069-IB16F, 5069-IB6F-3W, 5069-OB8, 5069-OB16, 5069-OB16F), relay output (5069-OW4I, 5069-OW16, 5069-OX4I), safety (5069-IB8S, 5069-IB8SK, 5069-OBV8S, 5069-OBV8SK), analog input and output (5069-IF4IH, 5069-IF8, 5069-IY4, 5069-IY4K, 5069-OF4IH, 5069-OF4, 5069-OF4K, 5069-OF8), and specialty (5069-HSC2XOB4).
What standard cable lengths are available, and can custom lengths be ordered?
Standard lengths are 0.5 m (005), 1.0 m (010), 2.5 m (025), and 5.0 m (050). Build-to-order lengths are available from 0.1 m to 30.0 m in increments that vary by range: 0.1 m increments up to 2.0 m, 0.5 m increments from 2.0 m to 10.0 m, and 1.0 m increments from 10.0 m to 30.0 m.
What are the agency certifications for Bulletin 1492 wiring system modules?
Modules (except those with relays) are cULus listed for Hazardous Locations Class I Div 2, Groups A, B, C, and D, Temperature Code T3C at 60 °C (UL File E10314, Guide No. NRAG). Modules with relays are cULus listed for Ordinary Locations (UL File E113724, Guide No. NRAQ). All modules except those with relays also carry Factory Mutual (FM) certification for Class I Div 2, Groups A, B, C, and D (FM file J.I.3000590). All modules are CE compliant for applicable directives.
What DIN rail type do the IFMs mount on?
The interface modules mount on a standard DIN #3 rail.
What conductor size do the pre-wired cables use, and are they tested before shipping?
All pre-wired digital and analog cables use 22 AWG wire. The cables are 100% tested for continuity to ensure accurate connections and eliminate the need for point-to-point checking.
What fuse size is used in fusible IFM and AIFM modules?
Fusible modules use 5 x 20 mm fuse clips. Fuses are not included with the modules. Replacement fuse holders (1492-IFMFHI) are available in packages of 20. The 1492-ISOSW-1 isolation switch plug, which fits the same 5 x 20 mm fuse holder, can be used when fusing is not required.
What is the wire range accepted by fixed screw-style terminal blocks on these modules?
Fixed screw-style terminal blocks accept 12 to 22 AWG (4.0 to 0.2 mm²) conductors. The maximum number of same-gauge stranded copper conductors per wire funnel is three for AWG 22, 20, and 18; two for AWG 16; and one for AWG 14 and 12. Recommended torque is 3.5 to 4.5 lb·in (0.38 to 0.50 N·m).
