SINGLE PHASE

Single phase refers to AC power supplied through a single alternating current waveform, typically available at 120 VAC or 240 VAC from standard utility service — as opposed to three-phase power, which requires a dedicated industrial supply. Single-phase input ratings are common on smaller fractional- to low-horsepower drives intended for lighter-duty motor control applications. Products carrying this tag include Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 523 and PowerFlex 525 AC drives rated from 0.5 HP to 3 HP at 240 VAC single-phase input, as well as Kinetix 5500 servo drives with single-phase AC input capability. These drives are well suited for applications where three-phase utility power is unavailable or impractical, such as smaller machinery, HVAC equipment, and light conveying systems.
